Product Engineer - Dimensional and Tooling

Summary

Join an aerospace manufacturing team as the technical owner for the dimensional integrity and tooling lifecycle of precision investment-cast components. This role connects customer drawings and GD&T requirements with practical tooling, metrology, qualification, and corrective-action decisions across the manufacturing process.

Essential Functions

• Own the dimensional, geometric, and tooling integrity of an assigned portfolio of aerospace investment-cast components.
• Interpret customer blueprints, 3D CAD models, GD&T requirements, tolerance stacks, and datum schemes.
• Partner with metrology technicians to establish measurement methods and critical-to-quality dimensional checks.
• Develop technical specifications for injection dies, ceramic-core dies, cooling fixtures, setters, and straightening gauges.
• Coordinate external tool shops through design, fabrication, qualification, approval, maintenance, and modification cycles.
• Analyze structured blue-light scan data, contour maps, ultrasonic wall-thickness results, capability studies, and tooling wear trends.
• Own the dimensional portion of FAI and PPAP packages and coordinate the complete qualification timeline with the Process Engineer.
• Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for dimensional nonconformances such as wall thinness, twist, bow, and profile deviation.
• Work with Wax and Ceramic Core teams to minimize distortion and preserve dimensional stability before casting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, aerospace, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least three years of engineering experience in dimensional control, tooling design, or precision manufacturing; aerospace investment casting or precision machining is preferred.
• Advanced proficiency with 3D CAD platforms; Siemens NX experience is preferred.
• Strong command of GD&T, tolerance-stack analysis, datum selection, and dimensional-capability evaluation.
• Hands-on familiarity with structured blue-light scanning, 3D color-map analysis, ultrasonic wall-thickness testing, CNC machining, and toolmaking practices.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or permanent resident) for ITAR/EAR-controlled work.
