Job Description

Wax Process Engineer / Process Owner

Location: Near Jacksonville, Alabama (on-site)

Salary: $100,000-$150,000 annually

Schedule: Full time


Position Summary

We are seeking a hands-on Wax Process Engineer / Process Owner to lead and continuously improve wax pattern and pattern assembly processes within an aerospace investment casting operation. This role owns the technical health of the wax room, from incoming ceramic cores and wax injection through dimensional control, pattern assembly, gating, defect reduction, and fixed-process compliance.

Essential Functions

  • Own the wax injection and pattern assembly process, including equipment, tooling, materials, work instructions, and process controls.
  • Develop, validate, and maintain wax injection parameters for new and existing aerospace components.
  • Control incoming ceramic core handling, inspection, storage, and integration into wax patterns.
  • Establish and improve subassembly, pattern assembly, gating, and cluster-building methods.
  • Drive dimensional capability and repeatability using statistical process control and disciplined process monitoring.
  • Investigate pattern defects, dimensional variation, cracking, distortion, flow, shrinkage, and assembly issues.
  • Lead root-cause analysis and corrective actions using structured problem-solving methods. 
  • Partner with tooling, quality, operations, and engineering teams on die design, tooling changes, and manufacturability.
  • Develop and maintain fixed-process documentation, control plans, procedures, and operator instructions.
  • Support new product introduction, process qualification, trials, and production readiness activities.
  • Train operators and technicians on standard work, process discipline, quality, and safety requirements.
  • Identify cost, scrap, cycle-time, throughput, and yield improvement opportunities.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing, Mechanical, Materials, Polymer, Chemical Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum three years of industrial manufacturing engineering experience.
  • Hands-on experience with injection molding or investment casting wax-room processes.
  • Working knowledge of wax or polymer rheology, injection parameters, tooling, dimensional control, and defect analysis.
  • Experience with root-cause analysis, corrective action, process capability, and statistical process control.
  • Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and process requirements.
  • Strong cross-functional communication, documentation, and project leadership skills.
  • Aerospace, precision casting, or highly regulated manufacturing experience is preferred.
  • Must meet applicable U.S. Person requirements for this position.
