Summary
Lead the post-casting processes that convert advanced aerospace investment castings into dimensionally compliant, shippable products. This hands-on engineering role owns process sequencing, equipment programming, standard work, technical controls, and continuous improvement across material removal, chemical core leaching, heat treatment, blending, and final casting-drawing conformance.
Essential Functions
• Serve as the technical process owner for post-solidification operations from raw casting through casting-drawing conformance.
• Define, optimize, and standardize shell knockout, high-pressure water blasting, abrasive water-jet cutting, and other primary material-removal processes.
• Program and maintain standard work for gate, feeder, and runner trim-cut operations, including tooling and fixture controls that protect the parent alloy.
• Own chemical core-leaching processes, including bath concentration, cycle time, equipment control, validation testing, and complete ceramic removal.
• Optimize in-house vacuum heat-treatment cycles and maintain ramp-rate, soak-time, pyrometry, AMS2750, and Nadcap compliance.
• Coordinate technical requirements, routing, and verification data for outsourced thermal processes, including solutioning, aging, and HIP.
• Establish controlled methods for blending, belt sanding, blasting, and surface finishing to achieve dimensional and surface-finish requirements.
• Use casting drawings and structured blue-light scan data to guide targeted finishing and restore out-of-profile castings to conformance.
• Investigate post-cast defects and rework, lead root-cause analysis, and reduce mis-cuts, over-blending, incomplete leaching, and process bottlenecks.
• Maintain fixed-process documentation, technical work instructions, chemical-handling controls, and safe operation of thermal and material-removal equipment.

Qualifications
• Bachelor's degree in mechanical, chemical, metallurgical, materials, manufacturing engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
• At least three years of hands-on manufacturing engineering experience in a heavy industrial or foundry environment.
• Direct exposure to chemical leaching, high-pressure water systems, thermal processing, precision grinding, or blending.
• Understanding of mechanical metal-removal methods, abrasive media selection, tooling, and fixture design.
• Working knowledge of heat-treatment fundamentals and pyrometry standards such as AMS2750 or the Nadcap framework.
• Familiarity with industrial chemical controls, autoclaves, and safe chemical-handling practices.
• Ability to read complex casting drawings and interpret structured blue-light color maps or comparable dimensional data.
• Hands-on, shop-floor approach with a strong focus on safety, throughput, repeatability, quality, and equipment uptime.
• Must qualify as a U.S. Person (U.S. citizen or permanent resident) for ITAR/EAR-controlled work.
